NWB

Maple Valley - Online

By the time 2020 rolled around, NWB was in full stride. Like most, we were not prepared for what was about to hit us. While COVID-19 destroyed many businesses around the country, the bike industry went into a frenzy. About two weeks of limbo kicked off the wildest two years we will ever see. The first week of April saw our online sales grow 8X from anything we had ever experienced. With that came many, many growing pains.

Phones were ringing off the hook at the retail stores with no one to answer them. Online orders were flowing in at a pace we could not handle. Bikes were selling so fast that we could not build them fast enough. The next 60 days would shape our business forever, and it is why NWB operates (more or less) as a well oiled machine today. We worked hard, buckled down, and evolved our processes to handle increased traffic both locally and online. Most customers were very patient in 2020 knowing we were facing some crazy times, but we knew that would not last forever. We implemented the changes we need for success and continued to grow.

Today, NWB is back to a normal flow. Our customers, both local and online, keep us pumped on what we like to focus on – high end bicycle work. We are no longer a one man operation in Snoqualmie, but our employees are the best of the best and work together to achieve our mission – create a better bike shop accessible to all.

Our Story

Our Story

In 2016, we opened our (small) doors in a tight 715 sq. ft. space in Snoqualmie, Wa. The goal was to bring top level service and premium products into a thriving MTB community. The first year was a huge success and planted our roots for the future, with goals of expansion quickly coming to life. By mid 2017, we were busting at the seams and started to look for the next step. We moved into our larger Snoqualmie location for the 2018 season where we still operate today.

As great as the first two seasons were, the winters were painfully slow. The local community is Snoqualmie largely transitions into Ski mode, so we got extremely quiet. We started building out our online business the first winter and hit it hard moving into 2018. Orders began to flow in, sales started to grow, and the roots of what now serves as our shops backbone were officially planted.

2019 was approaching fast, and we had an opportunity to open a shop in the town that our owner grew up in. The Maple Valley store opened in spring 2019 and had a similar path as the Snoqualmie store. Customers flooded in with enthusiasm for our staff and a demand for our product & services. Maple Valley continues to thrive with a massive demand for service and a unique mix of bike sales that we never experienced in Snoqualmie.
